다전공 Double Major

(복수전공 Dual Major + 부전공 Minor)

글로벌K컬처학과에서는 학생들의 다전공을 장려하기 위하여 전공필수이수학점을 최소화하고(36학점/12과목) 학과의 전문상담사를 통해 학생들 개인별 맞춤형 다전공 이수 모델을 제공한다.

The Department of Global Korean Culture Dencourages students to pursue double majors by reducing the minimum required credits to 36 credits (equivalent to 12 courses) and offering personalized double-major completion plans through expert counselors of the department.

1. 복수전공

Dual Major (Two degrees)

    재학 중에 주 전공(글로벌K컬처학과) 이외에 또 다른 전공(두 번째 전공)을 선택하여 그 학과에서 일정 과정을 이수하면(최소 36학점) 2개의 학위를 동시에 취득하게 되며, 하나의 졸업장에 두 개 전공의 학위명을 모두 표기하여 수여하는 제도이다.

If students choose an additional major (second major) besides their primary major (Department of Global Korean Culture) and complete the required coursework for a dual degree (minium 36 credits) in that department, they earn two degrees simultaneously. Under this system, a single diploma is issued that lists the degree titles for two majors you have completed.

2. 부전공

Minor (One degree: major + minor)

재학 중에 주 전공(글로벌K컬처학과) 이외에 또 다른 전공을(부전공) 선택하여 그 학과에서 요구하는 일정 과정을 이수하면(각각 21학점) 하나의 졸업장에 전공과 부전공을 모두 표기하여 수여한다.

If students choose an additional major (minor) besides their primary major (Department of Global Korean Culture) and complete the required coursework for a minor (21 credits) in that department, they receive a single diploma that lists both their major and their minor.

Eligibility and Application Period

신청 자격 및 신청 시기

신청 자격: 2학기 이상 이수자

Eligibility: Students who have completed 2 or more semesters

신청 시기: 1월 중, 7월 중 신청

Application Period: During January and July

건축학과, 수의학과, 약학과, 제약학과, 의학과, 간호학과 다전공 불가

Following Departments do not accept double major applications: Architecture, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, Nursing

GK학과는 1,2학년에 한국어 및 한국문화 집중교육을 통해 다전공에 진출할 수 있는 충분한 학문수행 능력을 갖춤.

The Department of Global Korean Culture provides intensive Korean language and cultural education in the first and second years, enabling students to develop sufficient academic capabilities to pursue double majors.

다전공 장학금 지원을 통한 다전공 진출을 적극 독려

The department greatly encourages pursuing double majors by providing scholarships for double major students.

전문상담(카운슬러) 제도 운영: GK학과 내 유학생 관리 전문 카운슬러를 배치하여 유학생의 생활 및 학사상담. 다전공 컨설팅, 인턴십/취업, 졸업요건 등 학사전반 지원

Counseling System: A dedicated counselor for international students is assigned within the GK Department to provide support for student life and academic counseling. The counselor provides comprehensive academic support including double-major consulting, internship/employment guidance, graduation requirements, and so on.

Stepping Stone for Pursuing Double Majors

GK학과는 외국인 유학생들이 한국어 및 학업수행 역량을 충분히 다진 다음 교내의 다양한 다전공으로 진출할 수 있는 교두보의 역할을 담당한다.

The GK Department serves as a bridge for international students to build sufficient Korean language skills and academic competencies before advancing into various double majors within the university.

외국인 유학생은 이미 GK 주전공을 선택하여 입학하기 때문에 추가로 타학과를 다전공하는데 있어 (실패에 따른) 심리적 부담이 덜하다.

Since international students have already chosen GK as their primary major upon admission, they feel less psychological burden (regarding potential failure) when pursuing a double major in other departments.

다전공 진출 후에서도 GK에 본인의 적을 두고 있기 때문에 학교/학과에 대한 소속감 및 자부심 그리고 학과 내 자국인 문화적 커뮤니티를 통해 존재감을 유지해 나갈 수 있다.

Even after pursuing a double major, students remain firmly rooted in the GK Department, sustaining a strong sense of belonging and pride. They can also maintain their connection through cultural communities representing their home country within the department.
